I just run both of them at the same time. That being said, I still run an old Lakemaster chip too for Lake Michigan because the insight doesn’t have as good of countours. My question for you is, did you buy your 385ci new or used? If you bought it new from a retail store, you likely qualify for their Lakemaster promotion going on through the end of December. Navionics would be my second choice, but not sure the insight chips have LOTW in high def. There is no way to buy a blank chip and load maps to it. Your question about chips, you have to buy a map chip. I have both Lakemaster Dakotas chip, and Navionics Hot Maps - North. I know in my case for South Dakota, the lakemaster maps are more detailed and more accurate, but don't contain as many states. Nice thing with Navionics, is that you can also download their freshest data app and be able to view the lake maps on your computer. Lakemaster, you'll have to buy two chips since they don't have one that includes both states. In comparison-Navionics gives you 3 times the Geographic coverage with the most lakes (Over 1500 on the Premium North Chart for MN, IA, WI and MI). If you fish Iowa and Minnesota, you'd probably get the most bang for your buck with the Navionics Hot Maps - North Region since it includes both states.
